Socotra or Skotra, an archipelago located between the two continents of Asia and Africa, belongs to the country of Yemen and has unique animal and plant species. Socotra is considered one of the most isolated non-volcanic islands in the world, which separated from Africa about 6 million years ago. Socotra’s long-term isolation and extreme heat and drought, monsoons from May to September, as well as special weather conditions in mountainous areas have led to the emergence of unique flora and fauna on this island, and as a result, Socotra has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
